Riding Toward a Cure: Our Commitment to Rare Cancer Research

At toddstreet, we believe in the power of community, compassion, and purpose. That’s why we’re proud to support Cycle for Survival, the national movement to beat rare cancers by funding life-saving research at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK).

This year’s event held special significance for our team. One of our own participated in their first ride in five years, joining thousands across the country in an inspiring show of strength and solidarity. It was a powerful reminder that these rides are not just symbolic—they are personal. For many, including members of our company community, the ride represents a journey of resilience, hope, and healing.

Cycle for Survival is more than a fundraiser; it’s a movement. Every dollar raised goes directly to rare cancer research, helping to accelerate new treatments forpatients who often have few options. This year, thanks to the collective generosity of individuals and organizations alike, Cycle for Survival raised $35 million—an extraordinary achievement that will fund cutting-edge research and provide hope to so many.

We are honored to stand behind this cause and contribute to a future where fewer people face the uncertainty of a rare cancer diagnosis. Our support is not just financial—it’s personal, purposeful, and deeply rooted in our company’s values.

To everyone who rode, donated, or cheered from the sidelines: thank you. You are part of something bigger. Together, we are helping to change lives.

03 India

India

Our Founder, Todd Street, spent time in Varanasi—one of India’s most soulful and spiritual destinations—and had the privilege of visiting a local orphanage. He brought essential school supplies like notebooks, pencils, and markers. Led by a single caretaker and guided by older youth who serve as mentors, the orphanage instills life skills and independence before the children step out into society at sixteen.

He also visited a nearby ashram, a spiritual community where residents live, learn, and work under the guidance of a Guru. Many spend their final years there, with family returning to honor tradition through sacred rituals along the Ganges River.

04 Refugee Service

Refugee Service in Sydney

While visiting his family over the Holiday period, Laurence, our Associate Creative Director, spent time volunteering with RACS, the Refugee and Casework Service in Sydney. This inspiring organization provides much needed legal support for refugees and asylum seekers in Australia, "a strong, independent public voice for the rights of refugees and people seeking asylum".

Laurence collaborated with their Marketing and Communications Team to help develop emotional storytelling approaches for their donor communications, developed and reviewed marketing collateral, creatively conceived videos, and helped with scriptwriting. Laurence continues to assist RACS throughout 2020. Pictured below he is excitedly being gifted with an official RACS shirt by their Director and Principal Solicitor, Sarah Dale.

05 Brooklyn Angels

North Brooklyn Angels

A number of toddstreet employees rolled up their sleeves to volunteer for the North Brooklyn Angels, a mobile soup kitchen serving hot meals to residents of North Brooklyn in need (spanning Greenpoint, Bushwick and Williamsburg).

Over the 4 days of service, our team joined other volunteers to prepare meals, serve them from the AngelMobile food truck and return to the kitchen to prepare for the following day.

In a year on the streets, fueled by volunteer power, North Brooklyn Angels has addressed the local meal gap by serving over 33,400 free hot & healthy meals.

The Meal Gap, New York City's official measure of food insecurity, represents the meals missing from the homes of people struggling with food insecurity — that is, when household food budgets fall too short to secure adequate, nutritious food year-round. The meal gap in North Brooklyn ranges from 11 meals to 0.9 meals, depending on the survey area.

Formerly three working-class and industrial neighborhoods, this part of Brooklyn has been rapidly gentrifying since the 1990s. As the area continues to transform with an explosion of development, skyrocketing real estate values, an inundation of bars, trendy restaurants, & cafes, and the continual use of Williamsburg, Greenpoint, and Bushwick as a lifestyle prop, it must be recognized that amidst all this wealth and buzz, there is hunger, displacement pressure, and economic uncertainty for the working poor, the homeless, and the low income residents struggling to remain in our community.

What started as a few people cooking meals for a homeless shelter has flourished into a much bigger mission. Today, with a fully functional kitchen and a 40ft food truck, volunteers are equipped to prep and cook 900 healthy meals a week for the area.

We are humbled by the work the organization does everyday to serve members of the community and were grateful to participate. toddstreet looks forward to partnering again soon!
